WILLIAMSBURG, Va. --George Mason University's women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to William and Mary Friday evening at Albert-Daly Field to end the Patriots' longest win streak of the season. With this loss, Mason fell to 5-5-1 overall (0-1 CAA) and the Tribe improved to 5-3-3 (2-0-1 CAA).

W&M, which out shot the Patriots 8-4, controlled the match from the beginning and got on the board in the 24th minute. Sophomore Lauren Bowers gathered a loose ball on the right side and served a high pass into the goalmouth, where senior Taline Tahmassian and Patriots senior goalkeeper Sarah Coughlin (Hawthorne, N.Y.) collided and the ball fell free. Hogwood, who was unmarked, possessed the ball and fired home her sixth goal of the year into an empty net to give W&M a 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 until the 47th minute when Hogwood struck again. Pawlow found Hogwood streaking behind the Patriot defense, and after a soft touch, she lofted a high, floating shot over the head of Coughlin, who came out to challenge, but she could not recover as the ball fell into the back of the net to stretch the lead to 2-0.

Pawlow ended the scoring in the 71st minute. After stealing the ball from a Patriot forward in her own zone, she sent a pass to Keri Gordon, who served a pass to freshman Emily Kittleson. Kittleson headed the ball backwards to Hogwood, who fed Pawlow streaking towards the left side of the box. Pawlow took the pass, beat a defender and fired home a low, screaming left-footed blast past Coughlin to give W&M a 3-0 lead, which was the final score.

W&M recorded five corner kicks and yielded just one to the Patriots. Coughlin made two saves for Mason, while Tribe goalkeeper Kellie Fenton recorded one save.

George Mason faces Old Dominion in Norfolk on Sunday at 2 p.m.
