Richmond, VA--Senior guard Jen Derevjanik (Staten Island, NY) was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week as announced by the conference office earlier today.

Derevjanik scored a game-high and season-high 26 points on 9-for-18 FG shooting, including 4-of-7 (57.1%) from long range, to help lead the Patriots to a 68-59 overtime victory over Saint Joseph's in the title game of the Hawk Classic on Dec. 29. Derevjanik hit two clutch three pointers in the closing seconds of regulation, including one with three seconds remaining in regulation to force the extra period. For her efforts in the Hawk Classic, Derevjanik earned tournament MVP honors.

On Sunday, Derevjanik tallied a game-high 18 points, which included a 7-for-9 (77.8%) performance from the foul line, grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists in the Patriots conference-opening victory over Towson.

On the week, Derevjanik connected on 14-of-29 (48.3%) field goal attempts, including 5-of-10 from behind the arc, for a total of 44 points (22.0 ppg), to go along with eight rebounds, seven assists, three blocks and three steals.

This is the second week in a row in which a Patriot has been named conference player of the week with junior guard Laura Kooij (Den Helder, Holland) earning the honors on Dec. 29.

The Patriots will return to action on Friday, Jan. 9 when they host Drexel at the Patriot Center with tip-off at 7 p.m.
