Richmond, VA--George Mason University's senior guard Jen Derevjanik (Staten Island, NY) earned Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week honors for the second-straight week as announced by the conference office earlier today. This also marks the third-straight conference player of the week for the Patriots as junior guard Laura Kooij (Den Helder, Holland) received the recognition on Dec. 29.

Derevjanik helped George Mason (8-2, 3-0 CAA) erase a 12-point deficit by pouring in a career-high 33 points, as the Patriots rallied to win at VCU by a score of 77-62 on Jan. 11 for Mason's fifth win in a row. Derevjanik shot 11-of-18 (61.1%) from the field, to go along with a 10-for-11 (90.9%) performance from the foul line, handed out four assists and recorded a steal against the Rams. Her 11 field goals and 10 free throws were both season-highs. On Jan. 9, Derevjanik scored 11 points, seven of which came on eight attempts from the foul line, dished out five assists, grabbed three boards and recorded two steals as the Patriots defeated Drexel, 68-54. On the week, Derevjanik averaged 22.0 points in two games and shot an even 50.% (13-of-26) from the field. In addition, the senior converted 17-of-19 (89.5%) free throws attempts, tallied nine assists, five rebounds and three steals.

The Patriots will return to action when they take on CAA foe, James Madison (5-8, 1-2), at 7 p.m. on Jan. 15 at the JMU Convocation Center in Harrisonburg, VA.
