FAIRFAX, VA... George Mason women's basketball players Jen Derevjanik (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) and Shelbylynn McBride (Valrico, FL/Durant) recently picked up postseason honors from the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) and the I-AAA Athletic Director's Association, respectively.
Derevjanik, a junior guard, was named to the VaSID Women's Basketball Second Team after averaging 15.9 points per game, fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). She was also 10th in the league in field goal shooting (42.4 percent), fifth in assists (4.12 apg), sixth in steals (2.19 spg), and second in assist to turnover ratio (1.65).
McBride, a senior forward, was selected Honorable Mention in the inaugural I-AAA AD's Association Scholar-Athlete Teams. She was third on the team in rebounding (4.0 rpg), fifth in scoring (7.0 ppg) and shot a league-best 86.7 percent from the free throw line during conference games. McBride closes out her Patriot basketball career ranking among the program's top 25 players in points (23rd with 719), rebounds (20th, 437) and three-point field goals (32, 11th).
