WASHINGTON, DC--George Mason's women's basketball team (2-1) posted a 22-point victory over Howard University (0-5) by a score of 85-63 at the Burr Gymnasium in Washington, DC, Wednesday evening.

Senior forward Vernessa Neamo registered a double-double on the night with game-highs in points and rebounds with 21 and 11, respectively, after shooting 9-of-12 from the free throw line for the Patriots. Senior guard Jen Derevjanik mirrored Neamo's efforts in points with 21, while senior forward Susan Otim poured in 16 points for Mason.

Shannon Carlisle led the Bison with 18 points and added five assists, while Melloni Benson netted a team second-best 13 points in 28 minutes of play.

Mason shot 45 percent from the field (28-of-62), while Howard went 21-of-62 (34 percent) on the night. The Patriots only missed six free throws (21-of-27) for 78 percent, while the Bisons shot 17-of-28 (61 percent) from the charity stripe. Mason dished out 21 assists to Howard's nine and the Patriots grabbed 46 rebounds to the Bison's 40.

The Patriots will return to action on on Dec. 20 when they host Monmouth at the Patriot Center with tip-off at 2 p.m.
