NEWARK, DE--Senior outside hitter Aline Pereira (Sao Paolo, Brazil) nailed a match-high 32 kills to lead George Mason (14-12, 10-4 CAA) in a four-game win over the University of Delaware (11-16, 5-9) in the regular season finale with scores of 30-28, 25-30, 30-23, 30-19 on Nov. 16 at Viera Court.

Pereira added 11 digs on the night for another double-double this season, while sophomores Natalia Porosa (Scarborough, Ontario) and Niki Bernardes (King George, VA) each registered a match-best 17 digs for the Patriots. Additionally, Jesica Umansky (Jr.; Buenos Aires, Argentina) dished out a match-high 45 assists, while sophomore Zulma Rojas (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) collected 16 digs for Mason.

Junior Valerie Murphy led the Blue Hens with 15 kills and five blocks while junior Sarah Engle and sophomore Niecy Taylor each had eight kills.

Delaware, which honored lone senior Liz Ommundsen before the contest, closed the season losing eight of its last 10 matches and finished with a losing record for the sixth-straight season. However, its 11 wins surpassed last season's win total of nine.

The 2003 CAA Tournament will be held on the campus of the University of Delaware on November 21 and 22. Towson, George Mason, Hofstra and James Madison will all compete for a spot in the 2003 NCAA Tournament, as the winner of the tournament will receive an automatic berth.

Friday's semifinal matches will begin at 4:30 and 7 p.m. while the championship game will be played Saturday night at 7 p.m.
