FAIRFAX, VA--George Mason University's freshman middle blocker Janelle Wilson (Towanda, KS/Circle) posted career-numbers over the weekend to receive Colonial Athletic Association rookie of the week honors as announced by the conference office. The Patriots defeated William & Mary, 3-1, on Oct. 10 and UNC Wilmington, 3-0, the following day to improve Mason's record to 7-9 overall, 3-2 CAA.
Wilson tallied seven kills and hit a career-high .417 in the Patriots' four-game win over William & Mary. The Kansas native registered seven total blocks in the wins, including a career-high three block solos against the Seahawks. Wilson also matched a career-high with three service aces in each contest. On the week, Wilson recorded 10 kills, six service aces and hit .320, in addition to her seven total blocks.
The Patriots will return to action on Oct. 17 when they host Delaware at the John Linn Gymnasium with first serve at 7 p.m.
