NEWARK, DE ... George Mason got a goal from junior Karim Manneh in the first half, but Delaware scored midway through the second period and held on for a 1-1 tie in double overtime in a Colonial Athletic Association match Friday night at Delaware Mini-Stadium.
George Mason is unbeaten (3-0-2) in its last five games as it moved to 7-3-3 overall, 2-0-1 in the CAA. Delaware is 3-6-3 overall, 0-2-1 in the CAA.
The Patriots got on the board first as Manneh scored his eighth goal of the year at 25:18 as he sent a shot past the diving hands of Delaware goalkeeper junior Kyle Haynes.
Delaware came back to knot the score at 1-1 in the middle of the second half when junior David Egosi booted the ball from 40 yards out to hit the net in the upper-right corner at 66:46.
Both teams played scoreless through the final minutes of regulation and the subsequent overtimes.
Haynes recorded all 110 minutes in goal for the Hens, notching six saves, while Patriot junior goalkeeper John O'Hara had no saves. George Mason topped the Hens in shots, 10-6, and corner
kicks, 8-0.
The Patriots continue a four-game road swing as they visit Towson Sunday at 1 p.m.
