HARRISONBURG, VA - James Madison defeated George Mason in a marquee match up of Colonial Athletic Association women's volleyball teams Tuesday night in Sinclair Gym of Godwin Hall. Game scores were 30-25, 19-30, 17-30, 30-26, 11-15.

The Dukes extended their winning streak to nine consecutive matches and improved to 14-7 overall and to 9-2 in the CAA. The win was the Dukes' first against the Patriots since winning the title game of the 2000 CAA Championship Tournament, snapping a three-match losing streak in the series, including last month's loss in Fairfax. The Patriots lost for the first time in three outings and for the fourth time in their last seven matches for a 15-7 overall ledger and 9-2 CAA mark.

The outcome puts the Dukes in a tie with the Patriots for second place in the CAA. JMU has the tie-breaking advantage to date with its victory against league-leading Hofstra.

George Mason's junior outside hitter Aline Pereira (Sao Paolo, Brazil), the nation's leader in kills, had 29 kills and 16 digs for a double-double. Jesica Umansky (Buenos Aires, Argentina) also recorded a double-double with 37 assists and 15 digs.

The Dukes hit .237 for the match and had their second-highest block total of the season with 16.

For their next match, the Patriots will host the UNC Wilmington Seahawks on Saturday at 7 p.m. at John Linn Gym.
