Sophomore goalkeeper John O'Hara and the George Mason University men's soccer team is ranked nationally in the NCAA Division I statistics for the third consecutive week.
Through games of Sept. 22, O'Hara (Foxford, Ireland) leads the Colonial Athletic Association and the South Atlantic Region and is ranked fifth in the nation with a 0.46 goals-against average. O'Hara recorded his third shutout of the season and the seventh of his career last Saturday as the Patriots and Lafayette played to a 0-0 tie in double overtime. For the season, he has allowed three goals in 588 minutes over six games and he adds 27 saves (tied for eighth in the region).
As a team, George Mason is ranked sixth in the nation for team goals-against average at 0.46 and its winning percentage of .833 ties for 19th in the country. At 4-0-2, Mason is off to its best start since opening 7-0-1 in 1996. The Patriots also are ranked tied for third with Virginia in the South Atlantic Region after being ranked sixth on Sept. 9 and fifth on Sept. 16.
George Mason concludes a five-game homestand by hosting Alabama A&M at George Mason Stadium Saturday at 7 p.m.
