George Mason women's volleyball player Aline Pereira (Sao Paolo, Brazil) garnered a pair of Player of the Week accolades Monday, including the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Player of the Week honor. She was also named CAA Player of the Week for the second straight week.
Pereira, a junior outside hitter, had 60 kills (7.5 kpg), hit .451 and recorded 21 digs (6.23 dpg) as the Patriots won over James Madison and UNC-Wilmington.
In the 3-2 win over JMU, Pereira had 36 kills, hit .419 and had nine digs. With JMU up 14-11 and just one point from winning the match in the decisive fifth game, Pereira served for three straight points as the Patriots rallied for the tie and eventually went on to win 21-19.
In a 3-0 sweep at UNC-Wilmington, Pereira had a double-double with 24 kills and a dozen digs. She also hit .513 in that match.
Pereira and the Patriots women's volleyball team host Maryland at 7 p.m. Tuesday at John Linn Gymnasium.
