Harrisonburg, VA ... George Mason senior Katy Robertson scored two goals, including the game-winner in the second overtime period, to lift George Mason to a 2-1 victory over James Madison in a Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer game at JMU Field in Harrisonburg, VA.

George Mason won its second straight game and its fourth CAA game in a row as it improved to 7-9 overall, 5-2 in the CAA. James Madison fell to 8-6-3 overall, 4-2-2 in the CAA with the loss.

With the victory, Patriot head coach Jac Cicala became the all-time leader in coaching victories with the George Mason women's soccer program. In his 11th season, Cicala now has a career record of 127-85-16, and he passes Hank Leung, who was 126-58-19 in the first 10 seasons of the program.

The teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half before James Madison got on the scoreboard early in the second half. Senior Deanna Saracino chipped a pass to senior Colleen McIlwrath, who headed a shot inside the left post for a 1-0 Dukes lead at 54:45.

That goal would stand up until late in regulation. With George Mason pressing forward, a loose ball came out of the JMU defense to midfield, where Patriot sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Coughlin sent it back toward the Dukes goal. A sliding JMU defender deflected the ball off Robertson and the ball caromed into the goal to tie the score at 87:30.

Robertson got the game-winner early in the second overtime period. Sophomore Cara Patton sent a pass forward along the right side, and Robertson gathered it, turned along the top of the penalty area and sent a 20-yard shot into the upper-left corner of the net at 103:51 for her sixth goal of the year and George Mason's second overtime victory this season.

James Madison held a 15-5 advantage in shots and an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. George Mason senior goalkeeper Naomi Hines, who has not allowed a goal in 270 minutes of play in CAA games, started and made three saves in the first half before giving way to Coughlin, who had six saves as she played the remainder of the contest. Dukes freshman Jessica Hussey did not have a save in the game.

Mason plays its final non-conference game Sunday as it hosts Florida State at 12 p.m.
