Fairfax, VA ... George Mason senior Katy McGee converted a penalty kick with 34 seconds left in the second overtime period to give the Patriots a 2-1 victory over Delaware in a Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer game Sunday at George Mason Stadium.

George Mason won its second straight game to improve to 5-8 overall, 3-2 in the CAA, while Delaware dropped its second straight game to fall to 6-5-1 overall, 2-2-1 in the CAA.

Mason senior Katy Robertson was tripped in the left side of the penalty area by a Delaware defender to set up the game-winning goal. McGee then put the penalty kick into the lower-right corner of the net for her fourth goal of the season at 109:26.

The Patriots got on the scoreboard at the 20:50 mark of the first half as senior Caroline Kent's shot was saved by Delaware sophomore goalkeeper Lindsay Shover, who had eight saves in the game. But the rebound went straight to Robertson, who sent a 20-yard shot just under the crossbar for her fourth goal of the year and the 54th of her career.

The Fightin' Blue Hens tied the score at 59:22 as sophomore Christina Martinik sent a corner kick from the left side into the goal mouth, where Mason sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Coughlin deflected the ball amongst a host of players. The ball went to Delaware junior Caryn Blood, who sent a 15-yard shot into the upper-left corner of the net for her fifth goal of the season.

Coughlin, who played the second half and the two overtime periods, had three saves for the Patriots in goal, and senior Naomi Hines added three saves as she played the first half. Mason held a 17-15 advantage in shots, including an 8-0 edge in the overtime periods.

George Mason visits Maryland Wednesday at 7 p.m.
