Dionnah Jackson enters her third season as part of the George Mason women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in the 2015-16 season. Jackson works primarily with the Patriots’ offense and guards.

Second Team All-Conference guard Taylor Brown continued to grow under Jackson’s tutelage, leading the conference in scoring from end to end with 21.4 points per game, setting a new George Mason women’s basketball single-season scoring record with 643 points on the season.

Prior to coming to Fairfax, Jackson held a similar role for three years at Southeast Missouri State. While with the Redhawks, Jackson helped tutor freshman guard Kara Wright to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer team last season. The honor marked the first all-conference honor for a Redhawk since 2008-09. In 2011-12, Jackson tutored point guard Bianca Beck to an overseas professional contract.

A four-year letterwinner at the University of Oklahoma, Jackson broke into the top 10 in 17 of Oklahoma’s 22 all-time record lists. The three-year starting point guard and three-time team captain finished her playing career ranked second in assists (606), third in steals (265), fourth in rebounds (829), fifth in blocked shots (64) and ninth in points scored (1,491).

In 131 games, Jackson averaged 11.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game. She was an honorable mention All-American selection and Wade & Naismith National Player of the Year finalist her senior year. To cap her senior season, Jackson was named to the All-Big 12 first team after garnering second team honors her junior and sophomore seasons.

Additionally as a junior, she was named the Big 12 Tournament’s Most Valuable Player after leading the Sooners to the second of two conference championships during her playing career. Jackson helped lead the Sooners to their first-ever Final Four appearance and runner-up for the NCAA Women’s National Title as a freshman.

After finishing a brilliant playing career, Jackson was selected in the First Round of the 2005 WNBA Draft by the Detroit Shock. She spent the 2007 season with the Chicago Sky, while also playing in Israel for the Maccabi Tel Kabir in Tel Aviv. During her professional career, Jackson also played for teams in Switzerland and Greece prior to Israel.

At Parkway High School in St. Louis, Jackson was named the Missouri Player of the Year in 2001, was a two-time All-State selection and led her team to 102-12 record during her four-year career.

The St. Louis, Mo., native earned a degree in Mass Communication from Oklahoma in 2005 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Higher Education.
