Nate Kopunek enters his fourth season with the Patriots in 2017. Kopunek has served as Volunteer Assistant Coach the last two seasons after starting as Director of Soccer Operations in 2014.

Kopunek returns to Fairfax after attending Mason during the 2009-10 school year where he was the team manager for the men's soccer team. Duties included preparing and dismantling practice, filming away games, creating review tapes for players using game film and running clinics.

Kopunek transferred to Towson University in the spring of 2011. He pursued an undergraduate coaching internship with the Towson men's soccer team where responsibilities included setting up practice, videotaping games and reviewing game film for statistical analysis. After a year in that role he walked onto the Towson men’s soccer team until the program was dissolved at the end of the 2013 school year.

Kopunek holds a USSF D License and a NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma.  

Outside of the collegiate environment, Kopunek currently coaches at the club level on the Maryland United FC boys staff.  Previous coaching experience includes stints as an assistant coach with Baltimore Bays Chelsea USSF Development Academy and the Fewster FC U-13 boys team that became 2013 Maryland Boys State Cup champions. Kopunek also has helped with D.C. United game day operations since 2007. 

Kopunek graduated from Towson in the spring of 2014, earning a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in in Legal Studies.
