Logan Messer went 5-0 and won the A Better Way Athletics Patriot Open for the third time to become the first-ever three-time winner of the event.  The No. 33 wrestler in the country at 174 pounds started the event as the two seed and added another nationally ranked upset win to his already impressive season.  He opened the tournament with a 18-3 technical fall in the first period of his opening match and in the second round of his second bout he recorded a pin just 40 seconds into the match. In the quarterfinals, he secured a 13-4 major decision, in the semifinals he was leading 14-0 before notching his second pin of the day.  In the finals, he matched up with #26 Sergio Desiante, a NCAA Qualifier who made the round of 16 at the NCAA Championships last season, and Messer secured the only takedown to win 4-2.

Messer is 15-1 in his last 16 matches and ranks 14th all-time in career wins in program history.  He is only 6 wins away from breaking the top 10 in program history.
