Senior Sonia Smith, a native of Upper Marlboro, Md., had a career week, averaging 25.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists while shooting 54.1% from the field and 43.8% beyond the arc.
In Tuesday's narrow defeat to preseason favorite Rhode Island, Smith posted her third 20-point game of the season to lead the team. She matched her then-career-best of nine field goals to go with four rebounds, two assists and a steal.
In the Patriots' rout of Duquesne on Sunday, Smith contributed just under a third of the team's 101 points, tallying the first 30-point performance of her career. She converted a career-best 11 field goals and five three-pointers to go with nine rebounds and a season-high eight assists.
