Fairfax, Va. -- George Mason University women's tennis head coach Steve Curtis has announced four new student-athletes for the Patriots' 2022-23 incoming class.

The class will include grad transfer
Taylor Garcia (Washington & Lee), transfer
Dana Edson (Occidental), as well as incoming freshmen
Maitree Diksha Root (Bhubaneswar India) and
Avleen Waraich (Reston VA).
"I am excited for the addition of these four student-athletes," said Head Coach Steve Curtis. "All very strong in the classroom as well as on the tennis court. We graduated a lot of firepower from our starting lineup. Taylor brings in a wealth of experience from her stellar collegiate career at W&L, while Maitree, Dana and Avleen will immediately add to the depth of our lineup."

Waraich, a 2-star recruit according to Tr.net was a four-year letterwinner on the tennis team at South Lakes High School. The Seahawks were district finalists and regional qualifiers.
Edson, a 3-star player according to TYR.net has been ranked as high as 350 nationally and top 10 in Virginia. She earned First Team Singles All-District (2018, 2019) and First Team Doubles All-District in 2019.
Garcia competed for the Washington and Lee University Generals; a top-15 ranked program in NCAA Division III and top program in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The grad transfer was a two-time Singles All-American (2021, 2022), the 2022 ITA Regional Senior Player of the Year, and 2021 Conference Player of the Year. She was an NCAA Individual Qualifier twice (2021,2022). The Generals were three-time ODAC Champions and NCAA Team Qualifiers (2019, 2021, 2022).
Dana Edson
Root, a native of India, was awarded the U18 player of the Year in Shanghai, China.
