Kenia Olivo serves as the Assistant Director of Development for George Mason University Athletics. In this role, she is instrumental in advancing the department’s fundraising initiatives and donor engagement strategies. Since joining Mason Athletics in August 2021 as a Ticket Operations Assistant, Kenia has significantly contributed to enhancing the athletic department’s outreach and development efforts.
Prior to her tenure at George Mason, Kenia gained valuable experience at James Madison University, holding positions such as Facilities & Events Intern and Sports Communication Student Assistant. She also contributed to the non-profit sector as an Operations Intern and Social Media Coordinator for Leveling the Playing Field, an organization dedicated to providing sports equipment to under-resourced communities.
Kenia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Recreation Management, complemented by a minor in Business Administration, from James Madison University in May 2017. A native of Burke, Virginia, she remains deeply connected to her community and is passionate about fostering opportunities for student-athletes through meaningful donor relationships.
In recognition of her commitment to diversity and professional development in collegiate athletics, Kenia was selected as a recipient of the 2024 and 2025 Diversity Initiative Program by the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) .
Kenia along with student-athletes, Olyvia Kennedy and Lauren Distad, founded the George Mason Athletics chapter of Athlete Ally in August of 2024. "Athlete Ally believes that everyone should have equal access, opportunity, and experience in sports — regardless of your sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.Â
