Kate McCarney serves as the Content Graduate Assistant for George Mason women’s basketball, where she oversees photo and video production, graphics, and social media.
Prior to joining the Patriots, she was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Randolph-Macon College. During her time there, the program captured an ODAC Championship and advanced to the Sweet 16, while McCarney also led the team’s content creation efforts.
A native of Long Island, N.Y., McCarney graduated from Skidmore College in 2023 with a B.A. in psychology and minors in business and media & film studies. She is now pursuing a master’s degree in communications at George Mason.
As a student-athlete, McCarney played basketball at Skidmore College, helping guide the Thoroughbreds to a Liberty League Championship during the 2022–23 season. She was named the Liberty League Tournament Most Outstanding Player as a senior and also received the program’s Team Leadership Award.
Outside of work and basketball, McCarney enjoys running—she is currently training for the 2025 NYC Marathon—along with lifting, photo and video projects, podcasts and storytelling, travel, reading, hiking, and spending time outdoors.
