Jimmy Davis is in his 12th season as the head coach of George Mason’s men’s tennis. During his tenure as head coach, he has amassed 89 wins for the program.
Last season, Davis led the Patriots through a historic 2025-26 campaign as George Mason earned its first-ever ITA National Team Ranking, coming in at No. 72 nationally. The Patriots finished with a 10-7 overall record, marking the program’s first double-digit win season since 2018-19, highlighted by a five-match winning streak and key victories over Navy, Villanova, and eventual Atlantic 10 Champion Richmond in a 4-2 regular-season win. George Mason also secured its highest-ever Atlantic 10 Championship seed at No. 4.
The Patriots earned four Atlantic 10 postseason honors, led by freshman Edgar Vilain, who was named the 2025-26 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer after earning A-10 Rookie of the Week honors three times. Deniz Okyay received A-10 All-Academic and All-Conference Second Team recognition after also earning Player of the Week honors during the season, while Monil Lotlikar was named to the All-Conference Second Team and Niza Simunyola earned A-10 All-Academic honors.
In the 2024-25 season, Coach Davis led the team to commanding victories against Atlantic 10 rivals with a 4-2 win over Saint Joseph’s and a 4-0 win against Duquesne, achieving an overall record of 7-10.
Three men’s tennis student-athletes, Jacco Arends, Milan Gonela, and Niza Simunyola, were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. Arends also earned a spot on the A-10 All-Academic Team and VaSID All-State. Juniors Monil Lotlikar and Ekansh Kumar were named to the Preseason All-Atlantic 10 Team.
During the 2015-16 season, Davis became an associate head coach after his stint as an assistant coach with George Mason Men’s Tennis. In his tenure, Davis has led two players to All-Atlantic-10 First Team selection and eight players to All-Atlantic-10 Second Team honors.
Throughout his time at Mason, he has coached teams that have excelled and created history. In the Fall 2021 season, junior Momin Khan made history by becoming the first Patriot to win a match at the elite ITA All-American Championship. In the Spring of 2021, the program matched its best-ever seed heading into the Atlantic 10 Championship, entering the event as the No. 5 seed. Monil Lotlikar became the first Patriot to reach the Round of 64 at the ITA All-American Championship in the Fall of 2022.
Originally a transfer from Longwood, Davis played three years for Mason, earning First Team All-Conference honors in the Atlantic 10 his senior year. He finished his senior season primarily playing in the No. 1 position and amassed a record of 16-9 in singles play and a record of 14-9 in doubles competition. He also earned All-Colonial Athletic Association Second Team honors in his junior year and finished with a 20-8 overall record, going 13-5 in the spring season.
