Ivan Chirinos

Ivan Chirinos is in his second year on the Mason coaching staff and will be working with the long, triple, and high jumpers. Chirinos has 28 years of experience coaching at the high school level and has coached many VA State top long and triple jumpers.
 
Chirinos was born in Arequipa Peru, learned his English in Queens, NY his 7th and 8th grade years and has been a Virginian since 9th grade. He attended and competed for Virginia Tech. He graduated with a BS in Technology and Engineering Education. Currently he is starting his 29th year as the technology and engineering Education teacher at Edison High School. He is also a Cohort teacher for the Global STEM program at Edison. Recently Chirinos received his a Masters Degree in STEM leadership.
 
Chirinos is looking forward to this new leg of his coaching adventure and looks to bring the success and experience he has had at Edison to help George Mason continue their championship ways. He is married to Charlotte Chirinos and they have two daughters, Taegan and Mallory and have a zoo including dogs, cats, a gecko, and fish.
