Eric Guthrie was named the department's Director of Strength and Conditioning in January 2026.
Guthrie joined the Patriots after serving five years as the Assistant AD/Director of Strength & Conditioning with George Washington Athletics. He worked with the Revolutionaries Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Volleyball, and Men's Basketball team, while overseeing the strength and conditioning department.
A native of Iowa, Guthrie is responsible for overseeing the strength & conditioning department and working directly with Wrestling and Lacrosse.
Prior to GW, Eric was at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he worked as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for eight years. At UIC, Guthrie worked with every team in some capacity and earned his Master's in Kinesiology while working full-time.
A graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Health & Human Physiology, Guthrie was a punter for the Hawkeyes from 2007-2011, finishing as permanent team captain and earning an opportunity with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the preseason of 2012.
Guthrie is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa), and holds a Reflexive Performance Reset Level 2 certification.
Guthrie, a native of Nevada, Iowa and his wife Krissy reside in Springfield, Virginia with their two children, Teddy & Vivienne and cat named Todd.
