Demetria Frank was promoted to Associate Head Coach of the George Mason University women’s basketball program in 2025, continuing her long-standing partnership with head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis. Frank initially joined the Patriots' staff as an assistant coach in 2021 after serving four seasons under Blair-Lewis at Bethune-Cookman University.
A standout former player under Blair-Lewis, Frank played at Bethune-Cookman from 2007–12, where she graduated as the program’s second all-time leading scorer with 1,567 points. She still holds career records for free throws made (854) and steals (422)—a mark that once ranked 15th in NCAA Division I history. In 2012, she led the nation in steals with an average of 4.25 per game and was a two-time All-MEAC selection.
Frank helped elevate Bethune-Cookman to historic success, including three 21+ win seasons, two MEAC regular season championships, a MEAC Tournament title, and the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019. She was the first former player to join Blair-Lewis’ coaching staff and played a key role in developing the Wildcats’ perimeter play, recruiting, scouting, and operations.
Since arriving at George Mason, Frank has been instrumental in the program's rise, bringing the same leadership and passion that defined her playing and early coaching career. In 2024, she was selected to attend the inaugural Next Up Coaches Conference, a prestigious event that supports the professional growth of rising minority coaches.
"Her loyalty, work ethic, servant leadership, and dedication have touched every part of our program," said Blair-Lewis. "She is truly one of the best young coaches in the business, and this promotion is a testament to the heart she pours into every player, every practice, and every moment."
A Miami native, Frank began her athletic career at Miami Jackson High School, earning four varsity letters in basketball and three in track. Her teams won 70 games and two GMAC titles during her final three years, and she placed third in the state in the high jump. After college, Frank played professionally in Australia and Puerto Rico before transitioning into coaching at the AAU and collegiate levels.
She brings to George Mason a deep understanding of the game, a servant-leader mentality, and a proven track record of mentoring student-athletes to success on and off the court.
