Dan Ostberg joined the George Mason staff as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in January 2024.

He comes to Fairfax after spending the past two years working in New York. First, with St. Francis College (NY) and then John Jay College of Criminal Justice as a Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at both stops. 

Before New York, Ostberg had worked with the Protec Jr. Ducks, an ice hockey organization located in Somerset, N.J  With Protec, where he was responsible for training all programs and teams, but he specifically worked with their junior hockey program in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). 

Prior to working at Protec, Dan spent a summer as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the United States Men’s and Women’s National Indoor Volleyball teams.  Additionally, he worked at Princeton University with Men’s Volleyball and Men’s and Women’s Rugby.  In 2018-19, Dan’s work with the Men’s Volleyball team contributed to them winning the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) conference title, Princeton’s first conference title for Men’s Volleyball in 20 years.  

Dan obtained his Masters of Science in Recreation and Sport Sciences from Ohio University in 2016, and a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science and Sport Studies from Rutgers University-New Brunswick in 2015.  
Dan is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  In addition to having his CSCS, Dan has his USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach and is a Certified Functional Strength and Conditioning Coach (CFSC) Level 1 through Michael Boyle Strength and Conditioning (MBSC).
