Claire Abbasse enters her first year as assistant coach with George Mason swimming and diving for the 2025-26 season.
A native of Lake Orion, Michigan, Abbasse comes from a family of collegiate swimmers with both of her parents and older sister having swam at Oakland University.
Abbasse obtained her B.A. in Political Science from Purdue University in 2023 and her Master's of International Affairs from the Pennsylvania State University in 2025. At Purdue, Abbasse was a member of the varsity swim team and competed all four years. She was a member of multiple Big Ten Championship teams and contributed to Purdue's championship relays.
Before assuming the position at George Mason, Abbasse gained coaching experience through her roles as a Student-Assistant Swim Coach at Purdue University, Assistant Swim Coach at the Nittany Lion Aquatic Club (NLAC) and Assistant High School Swim Coach with the State College Area High School. Through these positions, Abbasse has coached collegiate athletes and USA swimming national and junior national qualifiers.
Outside of swimming, Abbasse enjoys exploring new cities, reading and baking. She is excited to become a part of George Mason's team and looks forward to helping student-athletes excel both in the water and the classroom.
