Brandon Stewart

Brandon Stewart joined the George Mason women’s basketball staff in the summer of 2025 as the Director of Player Personnel.

A native of Miami, Florida, Stewart’s collegiate basketball journey began as a practice player for the women’s team at Bethune-Cookman. After encouragement from then-women’s head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis, Stewart walked on to the men’s team where he became a standout Division I student-athlete, earning multiple Player of the Week honors and eventually leading his team in scoring during his senior year.

After a successful collegiate playing career, Steward transitioned into coaching, bringing his on-court experience and leadership to the high school level. Over six years—five at Mainland High School and one at St. Thomas Aquinas—he earned a reputation for excellence, being named Coach of the Year four times. Under his leadership, Mainland made back-to-back Final Four appearances and secured the first state championship in the school’s girls basketball history, followed by a state runner-up finish the next year.

Stewart also worked with Essence Girls Basketball Nike EYBL AAU team for the last four years, working closely with the legendary coach Kimberly Davis-Powell. He helped recruit and develop new talent for the program.

Stewart holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Bethune-Cookman University. His coaching tenure is marked by a holistic approach to player development, emphasizing mentorship, skill advancement, strategic game planning, and open communication with all stakeholders.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Stewart enjoys watching short informational videos, solving escape rooms, and expressing his creativity through writing music and poetry. He brings passion, insight, and innovation to every role he undertakes, always seeking new ways to develop talent and foster a winning culture.
