Mason Beckman

Mason Beckman enters his second season as assistant coach of George Mason Wrestling for the 2019-20 season.

In 2018-19, Beckman helped guide the Patriots to their best season in 11 years, finishing the season with an overall record of 9-7, including a mark of 3-3 against Eastern Wrestling League opponents.  Mason finished the season with a winning dual record for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

The Patriots finished third at the 2019 Eastern Wrestling League Championships with 56.5 points, the highest finish in the EWL Championships in program history.  Six Mason wrestlers reached the evening session, with four in the championship match and two competing in third-place matches. 

Mason redshirt senior Tejon Anthony claimed the first EWL title in program history, winning the championship at 149 pounds, while redshirt senior Matthew Voss placed second at 285 pounds, redshirt sophomore Eli Spencer placed second at 197 pounds and freshman Kolby Ho placed second at 157 pounds.

The Patriots had three wrestlers qualify for the 2019 NCAA Championships for the second straight year, with Voss (285), Anthony (149) and redshirt junior Colston DiBlasi (165) representing Mason at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa.
 
Prior to Mason, Beckman spent two years as assistant coach at Quest School of Wrestling in Washington, Pa.  He coached 27 Pennsylvania high school state medalists in his time at Quest, including eight finalists and six state champions.  Beckman also coached both high school and junior high teams to top-12 finishes at the NHSCA National Duals.

Beckman was also a content contributor and audio editor for PA Power Wrestling in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he created content for weekly podcasts.
 
At Lehigh, Beckman amassed 104 victories from 2011-2016, which sits twelfth on the program’s all-time wins list.  He qualified for the NCAA tournament four times and earned All-American honors twice, finishing sixth in both 2014 and 2015.
 
In addition, Beckman was a three-time EIWA finalist, winning the conference title in 2014 and finishing as a runner-up in 2015 and 2016.  He competed in the NWCA All-Star Classic three times (2013, 2014, 2015), was named a team captain in each of his final three seasons (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16) and was also a three-time NWCA Academic All-American (2014, 2015, 2016).
 
A native of Transfer, Pennsylvania, Beckman won a pair of PIAA State Championships for Reynolds High School and still holds the AA state career wins record with 196.  He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management from Lehigh University in 2015 and a Master’s of Engineering Degree in Technical Entrepreneurship in 2016.  Beckman enjoyed a stint working as a Supply Chain Engineer for the Kurt J. Lesker Company from 2016-2018.
