Logan joined the George Mason wrestling staff as an assistant coach after completing a standout five-year career as a Patriot student-athlete in 2026.
A native of Norton, Ohio, Messer established himself as one of the most accomplished wrestlers in George Mason program history. He finished his career with 102 victories, ranking seventh all-time at Mason, and ended the 2025-26 season ranked No. 23 nationally. Messer captured the 2026 Mid-American Conference championship, was a three-time A Better Way Athletics Patriot Open champion, and won the 2025 Black Knight Open. He is the only three-time champion in Patriot Open history.
Messer was a consistent performer throughout his collegiate career, earning numerous podium finishes at major tournaments. His notable finishes included second at the 2025 Big Red Invitational, third at the 2024 Battle at the Citadel, third at the 2022 Keystone Classic and third at the 2022 Princeton Open. Earlier in his career, he placed fifth at the 2021 Keystone Classic and won the 2021 Southeast Open.
In freestyle wrestling, Messer was a 2025 U23 All-American at 79 kilograms, placing seventh at the U23 World Team Trials.
Before joining George Mason, Messer was a state champion at Wadsworth High School in Ohio, where he established the foundation for his collegiate career.
Messer also excelled academically during his time as a Patriot. He earned a bachelor's degree in Statistics and a master's degree in Biostatistics from George Mason and was a four-time NWCA Academic All-American.
Messer now returns to the program as a coach, bringing championship experience, leadership, and an in-depth understanding of George Mason wrestling. As a former Patriot standout, he will play an important role in developing the next generation of George Mason wrestlers and helping the program continue to build on its recent success.
