Bob Dunn finished his fifth season as an assistant coach with the George Mason women's basketball program in 2019-20.
In 2018-19, Dunn helped Mason capture 16 regular season wins, including eight Atlantic 10 victories. It marked the second consecutive winning season - a feat the Patriots hadn’t achieved in 15 years. The 40 wins over the last two seasons are also a program record for most wins over a two-year span in program history.
In 2017-18, the Patriots had one of the best seasons in program history and tied for the 10th-best one-season turnaround in the nation with a nine-game turnaround (which factors in total wins and losses). Their plus-11 wins from just 13 the year before was also one of the best in the country.
In 2017-18, Mason set a school record for wins (24), made the postseason for just the third time in program history - and first in 14 years - and won a postseason game for the first time in program history as they reached the second round of the WNIT. The 24-10 record marked Mason's first winning season in 14 years. They also finished fourth in the Atlantic 10 with 11 conference wins for their highest conference finish and most conference wins since 2003-04. Mason also set program records for longest home winning streak (13 games) and most home wins (17) during the 2017-18 season. The Patriots' 11 non-conference victories were their most in 30 years.
Dunn also helped mentor 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Nicole Cardano-Hillary, who ranked third in the conference in scoring (17.8 ppg) and first in steals (84). She also was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Third Team, the A-10 All-Defensive Team and the All-Rookie Team. In addition, she was named the VaSID Rookie of the Year.
Dunn has helped with the growth of the program as, in his first year in 2015-16, he contributed to the Patriots winning six Atlantic 10 games - their most since joining the league - and reaching the quarterfinals of the A-10 Women's Basketball Championship for the first time.
Prior to joining head coach Nyla Milleson's staff, Dunn spent one season at Wagner College and the previous two seasons serving as video coordinator at the University of Kentucky.
At Wagner, Dunn was responsible for the development of the Seahawks' guards. Under Dunn's coaching, point guard Jasmine Nwajei led all of NCAA Division I in scoring during the regular season, finished sixth in the nation in steals per game and was selected to the All-NEC First Team.
In 2013-2014, the Wildcats compiled a 26-9 record en route to an appearance in the NCAA "Sweet 16", which came on the heels of a 2012-2013 campaign where Dunn contributed to a UK team that went 30-6 and reached the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight.
Prior to his two years in Lexington, Dunn served a two-year stint as a graduate assistant at Dayton, his alma mater, where he spent one season under Brian Gregory and one working for Archie Miller, who led the Flyers to the NCAA Elite Eight. With Dunn on staff, Dayton won 22 and 20 games in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012, respectively, reaching the NIT in both seasons.
From 2006-2010, Dunn served as a student assistant at Dayton where he received a B.S. in accounting in 2010. While working as a graduate assistant with the Flyers, the Cleveland, Ohio native earned an MBA, which he was awarded in 2011.
