Dominique Travers joined the George Mason softball program as an assistant coach in August 2022.
She specializes in catching and hitting as a member of the Patriot coaching staff.
Travers, a native of Woodbridge, Virginia, played five seasons (2017-21) at first base for UNC Wilmington, where she starred for the Seahawks on the field.
Travers' career stats in Wilmington consisted of a solid .286 batting average, 17 doubles, and a .404 on base percentage. She started 110 out of 142 games during her career. She achieved the fourth highest career slugging (.534) percentage in school history and ranked fourth all time in home runs (19) with the Seahawks.
She was a 10-time recipient of the CAA Commissioners' Academic Award.
Travers' breakout season came during her sophomore campaign (2018). She led the Seahawks with a .302 batting average, .594 slugging percentage and a .438 on base percentage. She contributed seven home runs and hit .400 in conference play. She was awarded with Second Team All-CAA honors and was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team after batting .500 with a home run and five RBIs in the event. On March 12, Travers was named the CAA Player of the Week.
During her junior campaign (2019), she did not disappoint, as she continued to lead the team in many different categories. Those consisted of 256 putouts, 23 runs scored, three triples, 10 home runs, 70 total bases, 23 walks and 16 double plays fielded. That same year she was selected as an Arthur Ashe, Jr. Scholar.
Due to injury and Covid, her senior season was cut short, but Travers still posted 19 hits,a slugging percentage of .526 and a .415 OPS, to go along with five doubles and 30 total bases.
As a freshman (2017), Travers was tasked with pinch hitting, where she ended up with 12 hits. This was a big contribution to the team's CAA tournament run and NISC Berth.
