Scott King is in his 14th season as head coach of the George Mason men's golf program in 2019-20.
In 2017-18, King mentored three-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference standout Eric Edwards, who posted four top 15 finishes. Edwards finished his career either owning or sharing 11 school records, including career birdies (312) and par or better rounds (43). In addition, both Edwards (three times) and fellow senior Brock Kovach (twice) were named to the A-10 All-Academic Team.
During the 2016-17 season, he oversaw one of the best seasons in recent memory. He helped several Patriots drop their scoring averages and post nine top-10 individual finishes. Eric Edwards and Kyle Hart each won medalist honors and Edwards earned All-Conference honors. In addition, Mason won its first team tournament title since 2013 by capturing the Navy Spring Invitational by six strokes over the Big East's St. John's.
In 2015-16, Eric Edwards broke through as a sophomore finishing in the top 10 three times, including tied for third at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships and earning All-Conference honors. Sophomore Kyle Hart earned back to back A-10 Golfer of the Week honors during the 2014 fall season after winning his first collegiate tournament, the Maryland Terrapin Invitational, and a second place finish at the ODU/Outerbanks Collegiate.
In 2010, the Patriots earned third place at the CAA Championships, the programs highest finish. Senior Silas VanSky earned a third-place finish individually overall.
In 2009-10, Mason had three top five finishes in the nine-tournament schedule. Marshall Tinsley earned second-team All-CAA for his efforts during the season.
Prior to arriving at George Mason, he spent five years at the College of William and Mary and two years at Eastern Michigan University.
King was the director of golf from 1998-2003 for the Tribe and coached both the men's and women's teams. In 2002, he earned Coach of the Year honors from the Colonial Athletic Association, VaSID and the Mid-Atlantic Region. The Tribe men received an at-large bid to the 2002 NCAA Eastern Regional. Seven of his players were scholastic All-Americans and seven played golf professionally.
He spent two seasons at Eastern Michigan University as head coach for the women's golf program before moving back to the Washington, D.C. area in 2005 as an instructor and junior golf coordinator at Reston National Golf Course.
The Springfield, Va., native has been a PGA Class A Professional for more than 20 years. He has been the coordinator for Nike Jr. Golf Camps for most of the past two decades. King also spent time as an assistant professional at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg and the Country Club of Fairfax.
