2013: Started 11 games for UMBC as a freshman and finished the season with a 2-7 record and a 6.20 ERA…Earned his first career win on April 3 at UMES, allowing just one run over six innings of work with a career-high five strikeouts…Threw a career-best seven scoreless innings in a win over Coppin State on May 9 at Joe Cannon Stadium.
Summer 2013: Played for the Bethesda Big Train in the Cal Ripken League in summer 2013…Posted a 1-1 record with a 6.87 ERA in five appearances, including two starts for the Big Train…Allowed 17 runs, 14 earned, on 30 hits over 18.1 innings pitched…Struck out 10 and walked five.
2014: Appeared in 11 games with 10 starts as a sophomore for the Retrievers and finished the season 2-7 with a 6.44 ERA…Tossed 7.1 innings of shutout ball against UNC-Greensboro on March 8 at the Chanticleer Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. to earn his first win of the season…Allowed just five hits and struck out five with no walks in the outing…Allowed just two unearned runs over 5.1 innings of work in a no-decision against Albany on March 16 at Alumni Field…Went seven innings, allowing two runs, one earned on seven hits against Albany on April 12 for his second win of the season…Went nine innings for his first complete game on April 26 against UMass-Lowell…Named to the America East Honor Roll.
Summer 2014: Played for the New Market Rebels in the Valley League in summer 2014…Was 0-1 in three starts for the Rebels…Allowed nine runs, seven earned, on 19 hits over 19.2 innings pitched…Struck out 12 and walked seven.
2015: Did not play.
2016: Appeared in 13 games with six starts for UMBC, finishing the season with a 2-4 record and a 5.44 ERA. Allowed 38 runs, 27 earned, over 44.2 innings pitched...Struck out 36 and walked 15.
Prior to UMBC: Lettered three times in basketball, two times in baseball and once in golf at Boonsboro High School…Selected Second-Team All-County as a designated hitter his junior season…Named First-Team All-County as a pitcher his senior year…Was also selected All-County in basketball in 2012.
Personal: Son of Stephanie and Garrett...Has two siblings, Teagan and Britten...Father, Garrett, was drafted in 1992 and played seven years in the major leagues with the Orioles, Phillies and Cardinals…Brother, Teagan, plays golf at Longwood University…Hobbies include golf and basketball...Graduate studies in Sports Management.
