Biography

2019: Did not see any action her junior season.

2018: Threw 11.1 innings over nine appearances... Tossed two shutout innings vs. Saint Louis (March 30)... Made her final appearance of the season at UMass (May 5) and kept the Minutewomen off the scoreboard...

2017: Played 15 games in the circle – starting one – for a total of 35.2 innings of work as a freshman. Mayer finished with an ERA of 3.93 and the second-best record by a Mason pitcher (2-2)…wins came versus Towson (March 29) and Hampton (April 12)…pitched a career-high 4.1 innings against Columbia in the Jacksonville Invitational (March 18)…made her first career start in a historic doubleheader sweep at Dayton (April 1). Mayer struck out 13 batters as a freshman with career-high five strikeouts in the Patriot Classic contest versus Akron. The Sparta, N.J. native picked up her first collegiate save against Virginia (April 5).

Prep: Taylor Mayer played four years of softball in Sparta High School while also running cross country and cheerleading for a season each. Mayer’s success on the diamond led her to becoming the team captain as early as her freshman year until her sophomore year. A consistent name when it came to end-of-year awards and accolades, some of Mayer’s most notable accomplishments include an MVP award in 2013 and a Most Improved Player award in 2014. Mayer was a crucial part of a Spartan team that made back-to-back appearances in the North 1 Group 3 Sectional Championship, winning the competition in 2016 after a second place in 2015. Both an athlete and a scholar, Mayer received GPA honors in 2015 and again in 2016.

Personal: Daughter and only child of Scott and Cheryl Mayer. Other than softball, Taylor enjoys swimming, horseback riding, and sculpting. She majors in Biology and minors in Chemistry.
