Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason men's tennis team continued its tournament play this past weekend as the team headed to Fredericksburg, Virginia, to compete in the University of Mary Washington Fall Kickoff Classic. The Patriots competed in both singles and dual matches against teams from Mary Washington, Longwood, and Johns Hopkins.

Joshua Vargas went 2-1 in his singles matches during the weekend, defeating Chakor Rajendra from Johns Hopkins and Ricards Spaks from Longwood. Nicholas Novitski, Egor Zackarov, Edgar Vilain, and Ekansh Kumar each picked up wins as well during the singles matches. 

The Patriot duo of Deniz Okyay and Shari Saeed picked up a win in the duals over Trevor Rein and Ryan Gipner from the University of Mary Washington. Kumar and Vilain were paired once again for their dual matches, and the duo also picked up a win, defeating Cole Langer and Austin He from Johns Hopkins. 

The men's tennis team now looks ahead to the ITA Regional Tournament, which will be held at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, from Thursday, October 8, to Monday, October 12.
