Fairfax, Va. - Men's Tennis wrapped up their first tournament of the fall 2026 season this past Sunday with the conclusion of the Joe Hunt Invitational at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The Patriots competed in round-robin singles and dual action throughout the weekend, facing players from Campbell, Johns Hopkins, Mary Washington, Morgan State, Navy, Delaware, Illinois State, Saint Bonaventure, Colgate, and Gardner-Webb.
Shari Saeed went 2-1 in his singles matches on the weekend, with both victories being two-set wins over Cole Langer from Johns Hopkins and Finn Logue from Illinois State. Egor Zackarov, Joshua Vargas, and Ekansh Kumar each picked up a win as well.
Kumar was paired with Edgar Vilain for the dual matches, and the two went an impressive 3-0 in their matches, picking up wins over Vicente Paniagua and Benediktas Verkovskis from Saint Bonaventure, Mukundh Boopathi and Chakor Rajendra from Johns Hopkins, and Jack Riordan and Ryan Gipner from Mary Washington. Zackarov and Adria Franco were also paired together and went 3-0 on the weekend as well against Dilraj Dhillon and Daniel Strandberg from Saint Bonaventure, Allan Xu and Lixing Jiang from Johns Hopkins, and Ryan Battaglia and Evan Fisher from Mary Washington.
The Patriots head to Fredericksburg, Va., next for the Mary Washington Invitational tournament. The tournament will be held from Saturday, September 19, to Sunday, September 20.
