Annapolis, Md. — This weekend, the George Mason University men's tennis team kicks off its fall 2026 schedule in Annapolis, Maryland, for the Joe Hunt Invitational. 

The Patriots look to build off a historic 2025-26 season, in which they finished the season with 10 team victories, marking the program's first 10-win season since 2018-19. The Patriots also earned the highest Atlantic 10 Championship seed in program history at the No. 4 seed and achieved the program's first-ever national ITA ranking during the season, reaching No. 72 nationally.

George Mason will compete in both singles and doubles matches throughout the tournament against Campbell, Colgate, Delaware, Johns Hopkins, Mary Washington, Morgan State, Navy, and St. Bonaventure. 

Returning Patriots
Among returning players for George Mason is Deniz Okyay, who earned Atlantic 10 Second Team Honors during the 2025-26 season. Okyay is entering his senior season with the Patriots and comes into this year off a season in which he played all 17 matches for George Mason, winning seven singles matches and nine doubles matches.

Edgar Vilain also returns to George Mason for his sophomore season with the Patriots. During the 2025-26 season, Villain won Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Rookie honors and earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors three times. Villain appeared in 16 matches for the Patriots, winning eight duals and going an impressive 12-2 in doubles matches.
