FAIRFAX –Three George Mason men's golfers were named 2025-26 GCAA All-America Scholars for NCAA Division I, announced by the GCAA today.
 
Rising senior Vijay 'JJ' Powell earned the honor for the second consecutive year, while Vaughn McMeans and David Fuhrer II were named for the first time.
 
The trio led George Mason to a second-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship, the best in program history.
 
McMeans became the first Patriots golfer to win A-10 Conference Player of the Year by virtue of his conference-best national ranking #256. The Leesburg native was also named to the A-10 All-Conference Team for the second straight season.
 
Fuhrer earned a 72.9 stroke average this season, besting his freshman year average of 75.5. He was voted A-10 Golfer of the Week after recording his best outing, a seventh-place finish, at the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Puerto Rico.

Powell finished with a 73.1 stroke average this season. His best finish was sixth place at the RedHawk Invitational, played at the famed Chambers Bay Golf Course.
 
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically eligible in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or be receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
 
649 NCAA Division I athletes from 210 schools earned 2025-26 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors. Delaware, East Carolina, and Lamar tied for the most recipients from one school in NCAA Division I with six.
 
23 NCAA Division I schools had at least five recipients. They include Abilene Christian (5), Alabama (5), Cincinnati (5), Dayton (5), Delaware (6), Duke (5), East Carolina (6), Idaho (5), Iona (5), JMU (5), Lamar (6), Loyola Chicago (5), Miami (OH) (5), Michigan State (5), NIU (5), Notre Dame (5), Oakland (5), Oklahoma State (5), Princeton (5), UCF (5), UConn (5), Wisconsin (5), and Xavier (5).
