FAIRFAX, Va. – An impressive 13 members of the George Mason University rowing team have been named to the CRCA Scholar-Athlete Team.
The total shatters the previous record of eight set last season.
Seniors
Anabela Shearer and
Jazmine Vasquez earned the honor for the third time in their careers, while
Midori Galligan,
Julia Howe,
June Johnson,
Kaitlyn Kutz,
Elene Meurmishvili and
Isabella Puentes are two-time recipients.
Pilar Cerritos Gatto,
Cora Jackson,
Rachel Karas,
Marta Kux and Sabrina Liu garnered the accolade for the first time in their careers.
To qualify for CRCA Scholar Athlete honors, an athlete must have a minimum 3.50 GPA and have sophomore status and above within the academic institution. Athletes also must compete in at least 75 percent of their team's spring competitions.
