ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The George Mason track & field teams excelled at the Navy National Elite, securing first-place finishes in multiple events facing athletes from Navy, Maryland, William & Mary, and Loyola (Md.).
George Mason jumpers were victorious across multiple events.
Abby Weening secured first place in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.56m, followed by
Laila Thomas in second at 5.42m. Kellen LaRoche claimed victory in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.05m.
Kymara Fernandez won the women's triple jump soaring to 11.83m.
In the women's hammer throw,
Fiona Agyekum achieved first place with a mark of 53.51m.
Cameron Portis placed second in the men's discus throw with 48.31m.
Paul McClain claimed first place in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:50.98, closely followed by
Caleb Hymans in second at 1:51.00.
Alex DeRoussel led the men's 3000m steeplechase, finishing first in 9:01.38.
Nicholas Emmert and
Daniel Hayes placed second and third in the men's 1500m run with times of 3:48.33 and 3:48.34, respectively.
Salma Fizaoui won the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.00. In the men's 110m hurdles,
Davian Burke and
Mason Morales placed second and third with times of 14.35 and 14.60, respectively.
In the men's 100m dash,
Jalen Johnson and
Mason Samuels secured second and third places, both with a time of 10.68. In the men's 200m dash,
Mason Samuels finished third in 21.13, while
Simone Hamlar placed fifth in the women's event with a time of 24.81.
The Patriots return to action on Monday, May 11, as a select group of middle-distance and distance runners compete at the Widener Final Qualifier in Chester, Pa.
