FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason women's lacrosse has added attacker Emily Barnette to its roster ahead of the 2027 season, Head Coach Kara Mupo announced Wednesday. Barnette joins the Patriots after spending her freshman campaign at Florida State.

"We are so excited to welcome Emily to Mason Nation," said Coach Mupo. "Emily brings a competitive edge both on and off the field that will continue to raise the bar for our program!"

As a freshman, Barnette appeared in three games for the Seminoles and totaled four points on two goals and two assists. She recorded five shots, all on goal, while adding a player-up goal, a free-position goal and a caused turnover.

Prior to Florida State, Barnette established herself as one of the top prep players in the country at Bartram Trail High School in Florida. An Under Armour 150 All-American and Under Armour 150 All-Star, she helped lead Bartram Trail to back-to-back Florida 2A state championships in 2023 and 2024.

Barnette totaled 101 goals and 40 assists during her sophomore and junior high school seasons combined, earning All-First Coast honors and North Florida National Team recognition in both years. She was also named to the National Cup All-Tournament Team while competing with the Florida Shine club program.

"I'm so excited to be a part of such a special team!" Barnette said. "Go Pats!"

Barnette comes from an accomplished athletic family. Her father, John, played basketball at Anderson University, while her older sister, Katie, was a cheerleader at Florida State.
