FAIRFAX, Va. – Freshman Alyssa Hopkins has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week following a dominant stretch at the plate in George Mason's five-game slate.
Hopkins showcased consistency and poise at the plate, leading the Patriots' offense with a .667 batting average, .706 on-base percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage. Across the five games, she recorded 10 hits in 15 at-bats, driving in two runs while scoring four times. Her performance included a multi-hit effort in four of the five contests, highlighted by a three-hit outing in the opening game against Loyola Chicago.
The rookie also delivered extra-base production, tallying two doubles and a home run, while drawing a walk and being hit by a pitch to reach base at an impressive clip throughout the week.
Hopkins' standout performances provided a spark for the Patriots and underscored her growing impact in the lineup early in her collegiate career.
The weekly honor marks the first of Hopkins' collegiate career, as she becomes the fourth different freshman on the Patriots' roster to earn the award this season.
George Mason will close out the regular season with an A-10 series on the road to face Rhode Island at the URI Softball Complex. The Patriots and Rams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, May 2 and a single game on Sunday, May 3.
