Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason men's golf team is set to compete in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship, held April 27-28 at the Evermore Orlando Resort's Cypress Course. Tee times begin daily at 7:30 am.

The Patriots look to improve on last year's seventh-place finish. Their best showing since joining the Atlantic 10 in 2013-14 came in 2022, when they placed third overall.

Vaughn McMeans led George Mason at the 2025 championship with a 15th-place finish as a freshman. He earned all-conference honors.

McMeans anchored the Patriots this season, with a 70.8 stroke average, the best in the Patriots' annals. He is the top-rated individual in the A-10 by 70 spots. His scoring average vs Par is best at -1.04, beating the prior best of 0.31.

The Leesburg, Va., native has seven top 25 and four top 10 finishes. He's earned medalist honors twice, which ties the most in one season in GMU history.

Sophomore David Fuhrer has a 72.9 stroke average this season, besting his freshman year average of 75.5. He recorded his best outing, a seventh-place finish, at the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Puerto Rico (Feb. 22-24). He was steady throughout the tournament, carding rounds of 70, 70, and 74 to finish 2-under-par. He was voted A-10 Golfer of the Week in the final week of February.

Uzair Mirza finished the 2025 A-10 tournament tied for 17th overall. He led the team in the final round with an even-par 72, highlighted by four birdies.

Junior Vijay Powell has a 73.1 stroke average this season. His best finish was sixth place at the RedHawk Invitational, played at the famed Chambers Bay Golf Course. Powell scored a team-best 71 in the final to finish four-under-par for the tournament, tying teammate McMeans for sixth place individually.

Joe Johnson played in two tournaments this spring. The transfer from Radford won the Bridgeport Collegiate, played by the teams' individual golfers at Bridgeport Country Club. He finished 7-under-par at the Par 72, 6352-yard course. The Leesburg, native fired a 5-under-par 67 in the final round.

Freshman Philipp Krone led the Patriots with a top 20 finish this season, helping Mason place fifth at the Dorado Beach Collegiate Tournament in Puerto Rico (Feb. 22–24). Krone delivered a standout performance in the final round, firing a 5-under-par 67 (75-74-67=216) with seven birdies and just two bogeys. The round marked both his best collegiate score and top finish (13th) of his rookie campaign. The effort earned him the A-10 Rookie of the Week award.

George Mason posted five top-five team finishes in 2025-26, including two runner-up results at both the Rutherford Collegiate and the Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate Classic.
