ORLANDO, Fla. — George Mason fell to Rhode Island 4-1 on Wednesday at the USTA Campus in postseason play. The Patriots secured their only point with a singles victory at the No. 4 position.

Rhode Island secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 1 doubles, Nikki Fernando and Kajsa Helgesen defeated Cenan Liu and Mary Young, 6-3. The No. 3 doubles match saw Sophie Herrman and Ava Grnja prevail over Noelle Talarek and Ravaka Noemie Ramanantoanina, 6-4. The No. 2 doubles match featuring Brooklyn Siegel and Maya Bayat against Grace Darcy and Anastasia Pettersson was unfinished at 5-3 in favor of Rhode Island.

In singles play, Rhode Island extended its lead with wins on several courts. At No. 2 singles, Nikki Fernando defeated Maitree Diksha Rout, 6-3, 6-1. The Green & Gold's Mary Young provided a point at No. 4 singles, claiming a 6-3, 6-3 win against Kajsa Helgese. Rhode Island earned another point after Anastasia Pettersson secured a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles over Brooklyn Siegel.

The match concluded with Rhode Island claiming the overall victory after Sophie Herrman's 6-4, 6-2 victory over Maya Bayat at No. 3 singles.  Cenan Liu's match at No. 1 singles against Grace Darcy was unfinished, with scores standing at 6-3, 6-5 in favor of Rhode Island. The final dual score was 4-1 in favor of Rhode Island.
