ORLANDO, Fla. — George Mason University fell to the University of Richmond with a final score of 0-4 on Thursday at the USTA Campus. The Patriots secured a win at the No. 2 doubles position, but Richmond prevailed across all singles matches to clinch the postseason victory.
Richmond secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Davis Wiley and Cole Brashear defeated
Ekansh Kumar and
Monil Lotlikar 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Grant Cohen and Charlie Burdell triumphed over
Shari Saeed and
Deniz Okyay 6-4 at No. 3 doubles. The Green & Gold captured a win at No. 2 doubles as
Niza Simunyola and
Edgar Vilain posted a 6-4 result against Paxton Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner.
In singles play, Richmond extended its lead with Cole Brashear's 6-2, 6-0 win over
Adria Franco at No. 6 singles and Dylan Atkinson's 6-4, 6-4 victory against Simunyola at No. 4 singles. Otto Sewell clinched the match for Richmond at No. 5 singles, defeating Vilain 6-3, 6-3.
