Patriots Face Howard Wednesday at Home

FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason softball (24–20, 9–9 A-10) will welcome non-conference DMV opponent Howard (24–14, 17–1 MEAC) to the GMU Softball Complex on Wednesday, April 22. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m., and admission is free for all attendees.

The matchup against Howard will be available to watch on ESPN+ and can also be followed via live stats online.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Howard enters the matchup following a three-game series against conference opponent Coppin State. The Bison completed the sweep with scores of 8-0 (5 innings), 10-0 (5 innings), and 7-3.

Howard holds a slight 5-4 advantage in the all-time series against George Mason. The programs most recently met on March 11, 2025, when the Patriots earned a 5-3 victory. Four of George Mason's five runs in that game were scored by current players. Tess Altevers Harris and Logan Pickford each scored once, while Kamryn Inman added two runs. Madi Sobota recorded two RBIs.

Offensively, Maryn Jordan leads the Bison with a .464 batting average, along with 36 runs and 45 hits. Taylor Ames-Alexander is batting .321 and leads the team in RBIs (32) and doubles (11). Makyia Taylor powers the lineup with five home runs this season.

LAST TIME OUT
George Mason earned a 6-4 victory over Hampton on Tuesday, using a decisive three-run sixth inning to secure the win. The Patriots jumped out early with two runs in the first and added another in the third before holding off a late Hampton push. Elyssa DeRosa and Kaleigh Friend contributed key early RBIs, while Tess Altevers Harris highlighted the offense with a triple. In the sixth, Kamryn Inman drew a bases-loaded walk and Payton Auerbach delivered a two-run single to extend the lead. In the circle, Harlowe Nigh tossed 5.0 strong innings, allowing one earned run with a career-high four strikeouts to earn the win. Abbey Lane closed out the final two innings to record the save.
