FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University men's tennis team has earned the No. 4 seed in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship, marking the highest seed in program history, and will open play in the quarterfinal round on Thursday morning.
Held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., the A-10 Championship features all 10 league programs competing for the conference title and an automatic berth into the NCAA Championship.
The Patriots will face No. 5 Richmond on Thursday, April 23 at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinals. George Mason defeated the Spiders earlier this season, 4-2.
George Mason has seen strong individual performances throughout the season. Freshman Edgar Vilain has been named A-10 Rookie of the Week three times and holds an 8-2 record in singles dual matches. Junior Deniz Okyay earned A-10 Player of the Week honors once this season.
In singles play, Ekansh Kumar is a perfect 3-0 in A-10 matches, while Monil Lotlikar has posted a 2-1 conference record and leads the team with a 9-3 mark in dual singles competition.
In doubles, the pairing of Niza Simunyola and Edgar Vilain has been dominant with an 11-2 overall duals record, including a 2-0 mark in A-10 play. Deniz Okyay and Shari Saeed have also contributed with an 8-2 overall doubles record and a 2-1 conference mark.
With a victory on Thursday, the Patriots would advance to the semifinal round on Friday, April 24 at 10 a.m. in Orlando.
