SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
St. Bonaventure enters the weekend looking to rebound after dropping two of three to Loyola Chicago in their conference series last weekend (4–5, 1–4, 2–1). The Bonnies have also gone 1–2 against A-10 opponent Fordham (1–4, 3–12, 9–7), but did secure a conference series win over Rhode Island, taking two of three (5–1, 7–3, 7–8 in eight innings).
Historically, George Mason has dominated the matchup, holding a 27–4 advantage in the all-time series. The Patriots continued that trend last season, completing a three-game sweep in Olean.
Offensively, Sydney DeGram leads the way with a .337 batting average and 30 hits. Colsten Beers has been a key contributor as well, hitting .287 while leading the team with 12 runs scored and three triples. Lauren Dundon and Nolah Moyer provide extra-base production with six doubles each, and the Bonnies have shown balanced power, with five players recording two home runs apiece.
In the circle, St. Bonaventure carries a 7.74 team ERA. Kendall Stull posts a team-best 4.43 ERA over 49.0 innings and accounts for four of the team's five wins with a 4–5 record. Mackenzie Frani has logged a team-high 54.1 innings and struck out 33 batters, entering the series with a 9.92 ERA.
With postseason positioning on the line, this series carries added importance. Only the top six teams in the regular season advance to the Atlantic 10 Softball Championship Tournament. St. Bonaventure currently sits in seventh place at 4–5, while George Mason is close behind in eighth at 4–8, having played one more series.
LAST TIME OUT
George Mason is coming off a dominant 6–0 shutout win over Maryland Eastern Shore, backed by a one-hit performance from the pitching staff with 12 strikeouts. Bri Lencz earned the win with five scoreless innings and a career-high eight strikeouts, while Alyssa Rangel closed it out with two hitless frames to record her fourth save of the season. The Patriots broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning, with Meghan Gray and Madi Sobota leading the offense with two hits apiece.
