FAIRFAX, Va. – Senior Abby Weening continues to shine this outdoor season, earning her third consecutive Atlantic 10 Women's Field Performer of the Week honor following a breakthrough performance in the heptathlon.

Weening captured the heptathlon title in dominant fashion at the Duke Invitational, posting a personal-best 5622 points—an impressive 654-point improvement over her previous record. Her total ranks first in the A-10 this season and eighth nationally in NCAA Division I, while also moving her to third on George Mason's outdoor all-time list.

Her performance showcased exceptional versatility, as she recorded personal records in five of the seven events: the 100m hurdles (13.90), 200m (25.00), long jump (5.86m), javelin throw (34.27m), and 800m (2:18.24). Most notably, Weening shaved nearly 12 seconds (11.98) off her previous 800m time, highlighting her continued development across all disciplines.

Weening also delivered top finishes throughout the competition, recording the highest mark in the high jump while placing third in the 100m hurdles, long jump, and 800m. Her improved 100m hurdles time now ranks fifth in the A-10 and is tied for sixth on George Mason's outdoor all-time list, while her long jump mark currently sits fifth in the conference standings.

With three consecutive weekly honors and continued personal-best performances, Weening has solidified herself as one of the top multi-event athletes in the conference and a rising contender on the national stage as the outdoor season progresses.

The Patriots will look to build on their early-season momentum as they split competition this weekend, with the full squad traveling to the Virginia Challenge from Friday, April 17 through Saturday, April 18, while select members of the women's team compete at the Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday, April 18. The meets provide another opportunity for the George Mason track & field teams to continue refining performances ahead of the championship portion of the outdoor season.
