FAIRFAX, Va. — George Mason University defeated Loyola University Maryland 4-0 on Tuesday at the Mason Tennis Complex. The Patriots secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions and clinched the match by winning singles matches at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 spots.

George Mason secured the doubles point with two victories. The duo of Niza Simunyola and Edgar Vilain took a decisive 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Nick Lawliss and Ryan Gill. Zavan Fahim and Nicholas Novitski followed up with a 6-4 triumph at No. 3 doubles over Dylan Koziol and Blake Edwards. The match at No. 2 doubles, featuring Shari Saeed and Deniz Okyay against Petter Hagen and Louis Moldenhauer, was left unfinished at 5-5.

In singles, the Patriots extended their lead with a straight-sets at No. 2 singles as Niza Simunyola defeated Louis Moldenhauer 6-2, 6-3. Fahim added another point for the Patriots as he earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles over Dylan Coonerty. Vilain clinched the match for the Green & Gold with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Blake Edwards at the No. 3 singles.

The match at No. 1 singles had Okyay leading Peter Hagen 7-5, 6-4, when the match went unfinished. The contests at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, involving Adria Franco and Shari Saeed respectively, were left unfinished. The Patriots concluded the match with a 4-0 victory over Loyola (Md.).
